The total value of Bahrain's wood imports and exports into the UAE topped BD 246 million ($652.7 million) last year, as the Bahrain Foreign Trade System informed Lesprom Network. Bahrain is an emerging powerhouse in the UAE market, with export figures rising from BD 84 million ($223 million) in 2007 to BD 109 million ($290 million) last year, and import numbers exceeding BD 136 million ($363 million) last year. Its global exports of wood and articles such as charcoal and cork fuel, wood in chips or particles, sawdust, and wood waste and scrap totalled to 434,420 kg or BD 134,432 ($356.7) during last year.
