Canfor Corporation reported net income attributable to shareholders of $22.2 million, or $0.16 per share, for the 3Q 2012, compared to $4.5 million, or $0.03 per share, for the 2Q 2012 and a shareholder net loss of $21.6 million, or $0.15 per share, for the 3Q 2011. For the nine months ended September 30, 2012, the shareholder net income was $10.5 million, or $0.08 per share, compared to net loss of $12.5 million, or $0.09 per share, for the comparable period of 2011, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network. The shareholder net income for the 3Q 2012 included various items affecting comparability with prior periods, which had an overall impact of $6.9 million, or $0.05 per share. After adjusting for such items, the Company's adjusted shareholder net income for the 3Q 2012 was $15.3 million, or $0.11 per share, up $4.2 million, or $0.03 per share, from an adjusted shareholder net income of $11.1 million, or $0.08 per share, for the 2Q 2012. Adjusted shareholder net loss for the 3Q 2011 was $1.8 million, or $0.01 per share. The Company reported operating income of $22.3 million for the 3Q 2012, down $3.7 million from $26 million for the 2Q. The negative variance primarily reflected a significant weakening of Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp markets and one-time restructuring costs which were largely offset by improved results in the lumber and panels segments, where solid demand supported higher sales realizations. Canfor is a leading integrated forest products company based in Vancouver, British Columbia (BC) with interests in BC, Alberta, Quebec, Washington state, and North and South Carolina.
