The 5 000 hectares of forest were acquired in the 1990s for the procurement of aspen. At the moment, aspen is available at lower prices elsewhere. According to Martin Lillandt, senior executive vice president of Metsäliitto Cooperative, the forest areas will most likely be acquired by an institutional investor.
