The new Forestry Code draft should represent the legal initiatives suggested by the regions, head of the senatorial committee (the Council of Federation) on economic policies Oganes Oganyan said. Oganes Oganyan accompanied by a delegation of committee members arrived in Petrozavodsk to chair a meeting dedicated to the Russian forest legislation reforms. During the meeting an experiment to introduce regional logging and reforestation rules will be discussed. The meeting will be held in the regional parliament in Petrozavodsk. The meeting will also be attended by deputy-head of the State Duma committee on natural resources Damir Shedaev, vice-president of the timber industrialists’ and timber exporters’ union of Russia Leonid Dyachenko, regional MPs and officials, heads of timber enterprises and scientists.
