Swedish forest industry group Holmen AB announced its 3Q report, posting an operating profit of SEK 64 million ($8 million), as compared to SEK 257 million ($32 million) in the 3Q 2007. The pre-tax result fell to a loss of SEK 24 million ($3 million), as compared to a profit of SEK 124 million ($15.5 million) in the 3Q last year. The loss was due to provision for costs for the closure of Wargon Mill. Excluding costs affecting comparability, the 3Q ended at an operating profit of SEK 362 million ($45 million), which was SEK 42 million ($5.25 million) better than in the corresponding quarter last year. The net turnover amounted to SEK 4,591 million (approx. $574.000), down from SEK 4,826 million ($603.000) in the 3Q last year. Holmen is a European forest industry group with operations within paper, paperboard, sawn timber and energy.
