Petrozavodsk, 21 October: The Swedish concern IKEA plans to build a major timber and furniture combine in Karelia, the republic's governor Sergey Katanandov said today. The negotiations on the project have entered the final phase. The first unit's construction costs are estimated at 10-12m euros. The venture will have an initial capacity of 100,000 cu. m. of sawn timber a year, including 30,000 cu. m. of furniture panels.
