Oct 17, 2007. /Lesprom Network/. Imerys Europe will raise UK filler kaolin prices by an average of 3% for its pigments for paper product lines effective December 1, 2007 as contracts allow.
Significant cost pressures in chemicals, mining, fuel, and power are key drivers for the announced price increase. The moderate level of this increase is a consequence of Imerys' recent investment to create a sustainable UK filler kaolin platform for the future.
Imerys will also raise global kaolin prices for its pigments for paper product lines effective December 1, 2007 as contracts allow.
Kaolins manufactured in the USA and Brazil, including calcined products will increase by an average of 12%. Energy surcharges will remain in effect for all kaolin products.
Significant cost pressures in logistics, chemicals, mining, fuel, and power are key drivers for the announced price increases. Despite Imerys' continual investment to mitigate these effects, price increases are necessary to achieve a sustainable pigment business and meet the demands of the paper industry.
