Paper packaging recycling in the northern Italian region of Liguria climbed 34% year-on-year in 2004 to 58,000 tonnes, English Corporate News Service reported, citing the 10th report of the national consortium for recycling cellulose packaging Comieco. On a national level, separate waste paper collection increased 15% year-on-year in 2004. In ten years, separate waste paper collection jumped to over 2.0 million tonnes from some 300,000 tonnes. The best performing regions as regards separate collection of paper and paper products were those in northern Italy with over 1,300,000 tonnes in 2004, up 11% year-on-year.
