Apr 03, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Klabin is the first Brazilian company to receive the OK compost seal, international certification of biodegradability, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The industrial sacks produced by the company for the cement market earned this certification after being tested by the Vinçotte Institution of Belgium, accredited by the Organic Waste System (OWS) – a global benchmark in this field.

The certification is assurance that Klabin’s paper sack for cement decomposes completely, after use, in industrial landfills. The seal also attests that the ink and glue used in the manufacturing process do not interfere with the product’s biodegradability.

This is yet another confirmation that Klabin pioneers sustainable solutions. The certificate underscores the company’s engagement with the best practices in the market and with the quality of all its production.

“Earning this OK compost certification reflects Klabin’s commitment to sustainable development throughout its chain of production. The company is continually investing in ecologically sustainable solutions and has achieved significant results in this respect,” points out Douglas Dalmasi, Klabin’s director of the industrial Sack division.

Klabin is Brazil’s biggest paper manufacturer and exporter, produces corrugated packaging, industrial sacks and timber in logs.
