Nov 12, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. Czech Koh-I-Noor will acquire ‘a blocking stake’ of Sibirskaya pencil factory (Tomsk), Sibirskaya owner Evgeni Kabanov announced.
According to Vedomosti-daily, Sibirskaya (bankrupt at the time) was acquired in 2001 by a Moscow firm ProBuro owned by Kabanov. Koh-I-Noor turnover reaches $30 million, sales in Russia are estimated at $3 million. Krasina pencil factory chief technologist Marina Rodina told Vedomosti, that Western investors – Koh-I-Noor and Turkish Adel Kalemcilik also sent their offers to the enterprise.
Sibirskaya pencil factory was established on the basis of Tomskaya pencil factory, established in 1934. The enterprise’s production capacity is 18 million pencils/months, processing 24 thousand cub m of cedar.
