Large international timber-processing company now acting in Vologda region of Russia
07. Leorsa Timber, a subsidiary of Swiss Leorsa Group SA, launched there two pilot projects in Vologda region of Russia.
Mar 27, 2007. /Lesprom Network/. Another large international timber-processing company started activities in Vologda region of Russia. Leorsa Timber, a subsidiary of Swiss Leorsa Group SA, launched there two pilot projects.
One of them is wood-processing site Kipelovo at a distance of 35 km from Volgda. Leorsa Timber has leased the site and begun modernization. In particular, some new wood-sawing machines are purchased and installed there. Initial investments in the project totalled RUR 2.5 million.
According to company’s director Anton Rakhmanovskiy, “this project will be promoted to European level affecting positively economy of Vologda region, because it means tax allocations in regional budget, creation of new jobs as well as improvement of image of Vologodchina in Russia”.
The second project is the processing of roundwood at the production capacities of one of Vologda companies.
“Taking into account the difficulties of financial, logistics and technological character which logging industry of Vologda region faces now, we have advisedly chosen this region as first foothold for the processing of roundwood into high quality export production”, development director of Leorsa Timber Serguey Sorokin says. “We intend to contribute to promotion of forest market to the new level in a qualitative sense”, according to IA Vologda region news.
