May 02, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Malaysia’s exports of sawnwood, fibreboard and particleboard picked up in the early part of 2013 while exports of plywood and mouldings remained flat throughout the year, ITTO reports.

At the beginning of the 3Q sawnwood, fibreboard and particleboard exports fell away and January 2014 exports of these three products were well below levels a year earlier.

January 2014 wood product exports from Peninsular Malaysia totalled 145,971 cubic metres out of which Port Klang, the closest port to Kuala Lumpur, handled the most at 87,851 cubic metres (60% of all exports).

Kuantan Port handled 9,352 cubic metres; Pasier Gudang 15,770 cubic metres; Tanjung Pelepas 10,180 cubic metres and Penang 22,818 cubic metres.
