Jun 15, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Mondi has confirmed with its Mondi Lohja employees that it will permanently shut this mill in Finland, following the conclusion of the consultation period with the mill's employee representatives.

The reason for the shutdown is Mondi Lohja's long term lack of profitability, despite several efforts to reduce the plant's substantial losses over recent years.

Mondi Lohja will stop paper production on both paper machines around the Finnish midsummer holiday of 17 June 2015. Some minor operations will continue until the end of 3Q 2015.

Mondi Lohja currently employs around 150 people who will be affected by this decision.

"We understand that this will be a challenging time for our Lohja colleagues and we will provide support to all those affected employees," says Carsten Lange, Managing Director of Mondi Speciality Kraft Paper.

Mondi is an international packaging and paper Group, employing around 25,000 people across more than 30 countries.
