Neusiedler plans to open a sales office in Russia next month. Craig Jacob will head up the branch, which will market output from the Syktyvkar mill in the Komi region of northeastern Russia. The plant has been renamed Neusiedler Syktyvkar. Neusiedler's parent company, Mondi Europe, bought the mill in March 2002. The sales office should have plenty of cut-size paper to sell shortly. Mondi Europe has bought a new 100,000 tonne/yr cut-size finishing line for the plant and the company is on target to commission the unit in April. The $15 million finishing line from ECH Will is set to boost Neusiedler Sykyvkar's cut-size output to 180,000 tonnes/yr. Paperloop The mill's PM 14 manufactures 190,000 tonnes/yr of uncoated woodfree paper and 19,000 tonnes/yr of newsprint, while PM 11 produces 140,000 tonnes/yr of uncoated woodfrees and PM 15 churns out 170,000 tonnes/yr of newsprint. The company sells 50% of its newsprint output to Russian customers and the remainder is exported.
