Jun 25, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. A new forestry law in Germany has been welcomed by the country’s foresters. The German Forestry Council said the Forest Act makes much-needed changes, as TTJ reported. “This is a good day for German Forestry and the work completed by the German Forestry Council has paid off,” said Georg Schirmbeck, council president. Short rotation plantations on agricultural land are excluded from the forest law. Meanwhile, a new organisation to promote German timber abroad – Future Wood – has also had its formal launch in Berlin. The organisation, which replaces the German Timber Promotion Fund, has a budget of Euro 1 million for projects in 2010-2012.
