Paper Industries USA curtails paper machine No. 2 effective
December
12, 2014. The curtailment is necessary to balance capacity
with the current economic climate and slow sales of uncoated mechanical papers,
as the
company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
Restart
of the paper machine will occur when the economic conditions improve enough to
justify resumption of operations. At this time no restart date has been scheduled.
The
Pulp Mills, paper machine No. 3, Co-Gen Plant and other supporting operations
will remain in full operation during this period. Company officials are working
closely with AWPPW and City of Port
Angeles leaders to identify and minimize
impacts of this curtailment.
Nippon Paper Industries USA is a leading manufacturer
of light weight mechanical paper focusing on Telephone Directory and Business
Communication papers.
