Jan 25, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Japan's Nippon Paper Group Inc. has developed high performance thermal paper for portable printers used in printing receipts and labels. The specially treated paper requires 20-30% less energy to print than conventional products, helping to extend the battery life of printers. Printing performance does not diminish even in high-temperature, high-humidity environments under which the reaction of conventional thermal paper to heat tends to become duller. The new paper also absorbs ink more quickly, significantly reducing difficulties such as shrinking of line spacing and gaps in printing locations that often occur with portable printers.
