Feb 13, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. The Dutch National Tree Foundation (Stichting Nationale Boomfeestdag) and PEFC Netherlands announce their collaboration in the promotion of sustainable forest management, bringing the importance of trees and forests to the attention of the future generations. This agreement is in line with the theme of the recent PEFC Netherlands annual meeting - Forests for the next generations – at which Peter Derksen was one of the speakers, as PEFC said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The Dutch National Tree Foundation has almost 60 years of experience in bringing children and trees together. One of its many activities includes the organization of a yearly celebration of trees and children, inviting Dutch children to plant their own tree. This year’s celebration will take place on March, 12.

For the Dutch National Tree Foundation and PEFC it is important that people learn and understand early on that it is essential to pay attention to the trees and forests, and that these resources need to be used wisely. Thousands of people will remember the day they planted their tree and where their tree was planted.

The logical connection between the Dutch National Tree Foundation and PEFC was easily made, PEFC and the Foundation have therefore signed a multi-year partnership.

PEFC is the world's largest forest certification system. Our credible standards seek to transform the way forests are managed globally – and locally - to ensure that all of us can enjoy the environmental, social and economic benefits that forests offer.
