Mar 28, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Plywood imports to Latvia increased 52% to 10.5 thousand cub m in 2004 compared to 2003. The cost of imported plywood reached LVL 1.93 ($1.04 million). Main importers of plywood to Latvia are Russia and Byelorussia, that imported 4.2 thousand cub and 3.5 thousand cub m of plywood respectively. In 2004 plywood exports increased 11% to 163.5 thousand cub m compared to 2003. The cost of exported plywood reached LVL 55.6 million ($30.1 million). The main importers of Latvian plywood were the UK and Germany – 28.7 thousand cub m and 21.8 thousand cub m of plywood respectively, 11 thousand cub m of plywood were exported to Italy. The total cost of Latvian timber sector exports reached LVL 749.3 million ($405 million).
