Sep 07, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Metso Automation's DNArecline recovery line optimization packages have been commissioned at two kraft pulp mills in Finland: Metsä Botnia's Joutseno mill and the UPM Wisaforest mill in Pietarsaari. This supervisory control solution, which is integrated intro the metsoDNA control network installed in each mill, coordinates the operations of the process level optimizing control solutions. DNArecline helps operators to smoothly and efficiently start up the line and manage process changes, subject to process capacities and limitations. This allows operators to concentrate on their process management duties. By better coordination of the recovery process startups, shutdowns and transitions are managed smoothly. This stability leads to less unplanned process shutdowns or interruptions, raw material savings and reduced energy losses. The controls manage steam allocation according to needs and process limitations.
