Aug 27, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. Russian-Japanese Baikal joint-venture intends to modernize production, imcluding the launch of new drying facilities. The modernization will allow to boost production quality and is provided in line with the market extension strategy. The enterprises has already supplied its products to the Asia Pasific countries. Baikal processes 230 thousand cub m of round timber annually. The enterprise employs 400 workers, its basic production trends include: sawing and profound timber procession, high-quality dryed (10-15% humidity) and antiseptic shaven sawn timber, as well as wooden parts for Japanese housing industry (120 thousand cub m/yr). The enterprises supplies minor amounts to Turkey, China, Syria. Baikal supplies 98% of total products volume for export.
