Nov 22, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. Law enforcement officers from the Ministry of Interior Affairs investigation board requested documentation on Arkhangelsky pulp and paper enterprise operation from 1992-present day in accordance with the investigation on the case of ‘Northern pulp’, Arkhangelsky public-affairs announced.
The company is obliged to present the documents by November, 24. The situation around Arkhangelsky has become complicated recently. As reported earlier, an initiative group was created in Arkhangelsk to dismiss deputy Vladimir Krupchak representing the 61st district, founder and owner of Titan group of companies that owns Arkhangelsky pulp and paper enterprise.
According to the initiative group, since Vladimir Krupchak was elected deputy into the State Duma, ‘investments in Arkhangelsk regional economy declined, average salaries remain low, the demographic and ecological situations continue to degrade.’ Besides, Alexander Krupchak has not introduced any bill into the State Duma, voted for the ‘unfavorable’ bills, including the legislation concerning the restriction of meetings, walkouts and demonstrations, the reform of social privileges.
The group sees the dismissal of Alexander Krupchak as the first step. A massive PR-campaign against Vladimir Krupchak was organized in the local media, especially in North-West Pravda.
The newspaper published the information concerning the cases Vladimir Krupchak was involved in and on the companies and other structures under his control. He was accused of getting hold of corporate assets by initiating criminal bankruptcy, the falsification of tax data, crimes against individuals and etc. Besides, North-West Pravda published an article in which it proved the involvement of one of the courts in the declaration of verdicts in favor of the companies owned by Vladimir Krupchak.
In 1994 Arkhangelsk regional state property department transferred 20% of Northern Pulp, but the Russian Federal Property Fund ruled the deal illegal and started the campaign to get the assets back to the state. When the fund decided to reregister the shares, it turned out that the assets were owned by group of companies.
The investigation board has been collecting information on Arkhangelsky. On July, 27 2004 law enforcement officers withdrew documents and a server form the Moscow Central depositary in order to inquire into the transactions of Arkhangelsky.
