Sep 23, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. Russian Nemansky pulp and paper enterprise (North-West Timber Industry Company) started the construction of a gas pipeline, NWTIC spokesperson told Lesprom.ru. The project will be financed by NWTIC. The pipeline will begin on the gas distribution terminal in Neman and lead to the heating plant on Nemansky pulp and paper enterprise, 1.376 thousand meters long. NWTIC acquired the pipeline worth RUR 2 million from Balt-Trade Rustrubprom, the contractor was Gastrubprovodstroi. The gasification of the city of Neman and Nemansky pulp and paper enterprise started in 2003. Sovetsk-Neman gas pipeline was launched on August, 31 2004. Further gasification of Neman was continued with the construction of Nemansky heating plant. In spite of the lack of funds in the local budget, NWTIC previewed the option of distributing the gas from the pipeline to local houses. Nemansky receives gas from the gas distribution terminal with the capacity enough to provide gas to the city of Sovetsk. The redistribution of the gas limits may result in gas shortages among the users. The total cost of gasification of Neman and Nemansky will exceed $1.5 million in 2004.
