Aug 30, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. Russian Nemansky pulp and paper enterprise (Kaliningrad region, owned by North-West Timber Industry Company) will launch the modernized bark utilization boiler, NWTIC spokesperson told Lesprom.ru.
The modernization of the boiler is another project launched by NWTIC aimed at the improvement of the environment in the region, power and raw material saving. The cost of the project, including the construction works, purchase and installation reached RUR 50 million.
Nemansky boiler produces the steam essential for the production by burning the wood waste produced during the preparation of raw timber for further processing. The modernization is a significant step now that the boiler is able to process the total volume of bark. Previously the boiler used black oil for bark burning which produced poisonous air emissions.
The reconstruction of the 2 existing utilization boilers allowed to boost the amount of processed waste, save power and increase steam production. The installation of the new equipment also allowed to introduce 2 new key technologies. Firstly, it is the drying of bark by hot air blown through a dynamic grating which eliminated the necessity to use black oil. Secondly, boiler loading and unloading will be monitored by a CPU.
The bark will no longer be stored and chopped in the open air, there’s a mechanized storage utility with a total square of 540 designed for these purposes.
NWTIC CEO Igor Bitkov, expected to attend the launch of the boiler, stressed that the reconstruction of the facility has a primary significance accompanied by the general modernization of the enterprise aimed at increasing the production capacities and production volumes. ‘I have said on various occasions that one of the main tasks the reconstruction is called to solve is the establishment of environmental-friendly and safe production. As you all can see, we’re on our way towards this goal’ he stressed.
