Russian government abolished pulp export duty
4. On November, 12 Russian Prime-Minister Mikhail Fradkov signed a regulation ‘On the abolition of pulp export duty’. The government abolished the customs duty applied to pulp or other type of wooden mass, paper and cardboard produced of recycle paper (TN VED 470100-4707) approved by the government on December, 9 1999, will no longer be applied to wooden and sulfite pulp, excluding soluble species, semi-bleached and bleached pulp, softwood pulp (TN VED 4704 21 000 0). The regulation will come in force within a month from its official publishing.

Beginning from 2000, softwood pulp export duty was set at 10% of the customs value, not below EUR 40 per ton. Beginning from September 2003 – 5%, not below EUR 15 per ton.
