Nov 30, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. SCA Timber will reduce production at the company’s sawmills for, as an average, two weeks in the end of December and in January. It is production of standard grade sawn timber that is curtailed, while the production of value-added wood products, components and finished products is continued as planned, the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. Production of sawn timber in Northern Europe has increased more than demand during the later part of the year. To avoid a build-up of stocks, SCA will curtail production at the company’s sawmills around Christmas and New Year’s holidays. As an average, production will be shut down for two weeks. “Our production of, for example, window components, IKEA shelving systems and value added products for the builders’ merchant sector will continue as planned,” says Jonas Mårtensson, President of SCA Timber. “These are products and markets with a stable demand, unaffected by short-term fluctuations at the wood products market.”
