Apr 27, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. The Smurfit Kappa Group has announced to raise solid board prices by Euro 30/tonne worldwide in case recovered paper prices and costs for energy continue to rise. Despite price adjustments earlier this year, another increase will be necessary due to the continuously rising costs for recovered paper, energy and energy-related components. Assumptions were made for 2006 cost increases but constantly climbing costs now exceed the forecasted levels. The Smurfit Kappa Group is the leading packaging supplier in Europe with a continuing strong position in Latin America. With sales in excess of euro 7 billion, operations at some 400 locations and over 40,000 employees, Smurfit Kappa Group is the European leader in containerboard, solid board, graphic board, corrugated and solid board packaging.
