Jun 04, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. The absence of export business plagued the Spanish recovered paper market in May, continuing a trend seen in recent months, Euwid pulp and paper reported. While the return of Asian paper producers to European recovered paper markets boosted prices on the Spanish domestic market in the 1Q 2008, the lack of export opportunities left their mark in subsequent months.
EUWID sources noted that only deinking grades were still being exported to Asia. Exports of ordinary grades had plunged since the withdrawal of Asian manufacturers from European markets in the second half of March. Export prices had also fallen since then. While Spain's official recovered paper prices were unchanged in April and May, market insiders reported a significant drop in spot prices.
