Feb 27, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. U.S. Staples Company one of the three largest office product sales networks decided to stop purchasing products from Indonesian paper giant APP. APP supplies accounted from 5-9% of the company’s turnover. The reason for such decision is the failure of the Indonesian company to improve its environmental policy. Public environmental organizations regularly criticize APP for destructive forest use methods applied in Indonesia and China, and also for the use of timber coming from illegal cutting. Staples representatives stated that sustaining cooperation with APP will have an adverse affect on the company’s environmental and business reputation.
