Swedish Forest Agency: Decreasing amount of delivered seedlings in 2014
Swedish Forest Agency conducts annual survey by questionnaire on the production of seedlings for use in Sweden. According to the latest survey some 369 million seedlings were delivered in 2014. A decline by 3% compared with the year 2013.

production of seedlings for use in Sweden. According to the
latest survey some 369 million seedlings were delivered in 2014. A decline by 3%
compared with the year 2013.
The most common tree species are Norway spruce, which represents 54% of
production. Scots pine accounts for 40% of the production while other species
production accounts of 6%. Since 2011, Pinus contorta and birch are reported
separately and accounted for three respective 0.4% in 2014.
Rooted planting material (86%) is the dominant method of production. Bare-rooted
is 13% while the remaining production accounts for 1%. Most of the origin of
seedlings comes from the Swedish plantations or Swedish stand, totally accounting
for 89%.
