Dec 19, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Swedish investor Investment AB Kinnevik said that its portfolio company, the cartonboard and paper manufacturer Korsnas AB, has decided to extend its production stoppages due to weakening demand, Lesprom Network informed according to M2 Communications.
Korsnas was initially to temporarily halt production for 12 days.
Kinnevik also said that as a result of maintenance stoppages, the prolonged market-related stoppages and write-downs, Korsnas' 4Q result will amount to a loss of SEK 70-90 million (approx. $ 8.8-11.3 million). On this, Korsnas will also make a provision of SEK75 million ($ 9.4 million) for costs related to the company's staff reductions.
Korsnas announced in November that it will shed 110-130 jobs as part of a programme to improve profitability and cash-flow.
Korsnas has 1,900 employees at mills in Gavle and Frovi in Sweden.
