Temporary layoffs negotiations at Walki's Finnish plants completed
Dec 16, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Walki Group has ended negotiations regarding temporary layoffs at its two plants in Valkeakoski and Pietarsaari, Finland to adapt volumes to meet anticipated demand.
Dec 16, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Walki Group announced that it has concluded the cooperation procedure at its Finnish plants. The negotiation process, concerning temporary layoffs in the company's two plants in Valkeakoski and Pietarsaari, Finland was started on November 19, 2008.
As a result of the negotiations, the two plants will assume an operating model, consisting of shortened working weeks. The implementation of the operating model is depending on production lines and the prevailing order situation and will start from January 7, 2009 and will continue until further notice, however not later than until the end of April.
The production curtailments will be planned in such a way that the delivery service of the two plants will not suffer.
Walki Group produces wrappings for the paper and metal industries, food and consumer packaging materials, decorative and functional laminates, barrier liners for solid and corrugated packaging, composite materials for the insulation and construction industries as well as technical papers. Walki Group operates production units in Finland, Germany, Poland, the U.K., China and Sweden.
