Mar 16, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Following successfully extending the screening and flotation capacity of UPM Schongau mill’s deinking plant some 3 years ago, Voith Paper has again been selected to carry out a further capacity increase, this time as part of an upgrade project for the entire mill.
To ensure the project goals are achieved - mainly the capacity increase-Schongau has ordered four EcoCell primary flotation cells for extending pre-flotation. The mill requires that present brightness after pre-flotation and sticky reduction performance are at least maintained after the rebuild.
The order also includes three MultiScreen machines, each equipped with C-bar screen basket and MultiFoil rotor for expanding IC and LC slot screening operations. To facilitate routine inspection and screen basket replacement, the screens will be fitted with swing covers and fast cover clamping.
In addition, various screen baskets of up-to-date C-bar design will be supplied for a number of existing screens at the mill.
Start-up assistance and complete assembly of the flotation cells is also part of the order package.
UPM Schongau was founded in 1887 and today produces newsprint and uncoated paper grades with a high filler content for newspapers, supplements, advertising flyers, brochures, magazines and catalogues. The mill produces up to 750 000 tonnes per year of web offset papers from up to 100% recovered paper on three modern paper machines for supply to newspaper and other publishing houses as well as for web offset printers all over the world. UPM Schongau is among the world’s biggest recyclers of recovered paper.
