Mar 14, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. UPM and Buyers Laboratory (BLI) have agreed to evaluate the runnability performance of UPM cutsize papers in the BLI test lab in Wokingham, UK. First test reports will be available for Yes Silver multifunction papers as of April 2008, identifying the paper’s runnability performance on each imaging device that has been tested by BLI. UPM’s papers will be tested for runnability, printability, and packaging issues. "Having our papers tested by an independent lab, will be of high value for our distribution partners and end-consumers", points out Päivi Forsberg, Development Manager Office Papers at UPM. "It is especially vital for high-end volume users to know how paper performs on their machine. Any paper jam costs them time and money. Moreover, it will help UPM to evaluate how its paper performs on recently launched printing and copying machines." As a consequence of the testing agreement, UPM will be BLI’s lead supplier for multifunctional grades for the coming months. “Paper has an impact on the performance of a printer or copier. Results are truly comparable if you use the same paper in all tests across all machines,”, says David Sweetnam, European Lab and Research Manager at BLI, emphasising BLI’s quality approach through standardisation.
