The American Forest & Paper Association in its May 2009 U.S. Containerboard Statistics Report said total containerboard paper production rose 216,700 tons or 9.0% when compared to April 2009, PaperAge reported. However, total containerboard paper production decreased 10.6% in May compared to May 2008. Linerboard production for May was up 11.5% over April 2009. But, production of linerboard fell 9.1% in May '09 when compared to May '08. Medium production in May was up over last month, posting a 3.2% increase when compared to April 2009, but decreased by 14.3% over May 2008.
