The US has started investigation of the alleged dumping and subsidy practices of imported certain lined paper products produced by former Sinar Mas companies, Bisnis Indonesia reported. In its official announcement to Bisnis the US Department of Trade explained that the US has imposed on February 13 a sanction of 118.6% anti-dumping custom tariff on publicly listed PT Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia, while other Indonesian exporters have been applied with a sanction of 97.9% anti-dumping custom tariff. The investigation is planned to start this week and the final determination of the result of the investigation is scheduled for June 20. Related to the investigation, the investigative team from the US will come to Indonesia by the end of the month to seek evidences whether the government really provides subsidy to the certain lined paper products of PT Tjiwi Kimia. Martua Sihombing, director of Trade Security at the Department of Trade, revealed that in welcoming the US team, the Indonesian government had set up a cross-departmental team consisting of members from the Department of Forestry, the central bank (BI), the Directorate General of Taxation, and the Department of Trade.
