Aug 04, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. The US International Trade Commission (ITC) said it has voted to launch an investigation into certain floor panels from China, Canada, Malaysia and within the US over possible violation of patents owned by Unilin Beheer BV of the Netherlands, AFX reported.
The 30 companies subject to the ITC investigation comprise sixteen from China, nine from the US, four from Canada and one from Malaysia, ITC said in an announcement last Friday on its website. The investigation is based on a complaint filed on July 1 by Unilin Beheer, along with Flooring Industries Ltd of Ireland and Unilin Flooring NC LLC from North Carolina, requesting that imports and sales from the 30 companies be barred.
The sixteen companies include Vohringer Wood Product (Shanghai) Co Ltd, Fujian Yongan Forestry (Group) Joint-Stock Co Ltd (SZA 000663), China Floors Co Ltd and Power Dekor Group Co Ltd. The Beijing-based Economic Observer reported, citing Zhang Senlin, chairman of China National Forest Product Industry Association, that the 16 Chinese companies named account for over 60% of China's total wooden floor production.
