Western lumber production totaled 6.821 billion board feet through August, down 25.8% compared to the first eight months of 2008, according to the Western Wood Products Association. Coast production was off 22.0% through August this year, while Inland production dropped 29.9%. Output in the California Redwood region plummeted 45.3% through August. Across all the West, August production totaled 895 million board feet, down 19.8% compared to the August 2008 total.
