Nov 23, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. U.S. printing-writing paper shipments decreased 4% in October compared to October 2009. Two of the four major printing-writing grades posted increases compared to last October. U.S. purchases (shipments + imports – exports) of printing-writing papers decreased, down 7% in October. Total printing-writing paper inventory levels remained essentially flat compared to September 2010, the American Forest & Paper Association said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. U.S. paperboard production in October 2010 decreased by 1.6% compared to October 2009, 5.9% from last month. Year-to-date production was up 3.9% over 2009. The American Forest & Paper Association is the national trade association of the forest products industry, representing pulp, paper, and wood products manufacturers, and forest landowners.
