Veracel was awarded the FGV Enterprise Excellence Prize for its performance as the fastest climber in the ranking of the top 500 listed companies in the last five years. The company came from the 423rd position up to the 129th, in the period 2002-2006. The award is an initiative of the Conjuntura Econômica magazine, published by the Brazilian Institute of Economics of Fundação Getúlio Vargas (Ibre/FGV). The ceremony was held last August at the Centro Fecomércio de Eventos, in Sao Paulo, gathering top personalities of the public and the industrial sectors. Awarded since 1991, the prize is the result of a detailed survey by economists and analysts at FGV. Respected by the impartiality and credibility of Fundação Getúlio Vargas, the award really matters for the recognition of the Country's most important listed companies. Veracel is the result of a partnership between two leading companies of the international pulp and paper sector — Aracruz Celulose of Brazil and Stora Enso of Sweden-Finland.
