Oct 24, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov proposed to utilize production facilities of Rosagrolizing to produce timber harvesting machinery. The proposition was made on October 24 during his visit at Kraslesmash OJSC (Krasnoyarsk region). According to V. Zubkov, Rosagrolizing has wide capabilities in terms of agricultural equipment. Zubkov also highlighted that the Government had to raise export duties on roundwood to support domestic market and develop timber processing in Russia. He assured that investors will come into this industry in the coming years. First Deputy Prime Minister compared timber industry development with that of the car-producing industry. He reminded that when import of second-hand cars to Russia has been limited, development of domestic production started and investors’ attention was attracted. "The same thing will be with the timber industry", he said. Kraslesmash OJSC was established in 1918 and deals in timber processing machinery production. The plant offers wide range of processing equipment for forestry. In 2007, production output equaled to 446.9 million roubles ($16.4 million).
