May 13, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. At the end of March 2005, Century Pulp & Paper in Lalkua, located at the south foothills of the Himalaya at the Nepalese border, ordered a complete paper machine for the production of writing and printing papers. The PM 4 with a width of 6 m (240 inches) and a length of around 100 m is to produce approximately 90.000 t p.a. at a speed of nearly 833 m/min (2.730 fpm). The used virgin fibre is mainly indigenous bagasse, a waste product from the production of sugar from sugar cane. Only 10 % of imported pulp is used. Century Pulp & Paper is one of the largest paper producing companies in India. Start-up of the production unit is scheduled for January 2007. Voith is the world’s market leader in integrated pulp and paper mills for the paper production on the basis of bagasse. Already 10 years ago, Voith Paper delivered a similar unit to India.
