Feb 08, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. ARAUCO officially launched the Operational Excellence program last January, through a series of presentations made to production line supervisors explaining the main objectives this program seeks to fulfill at Teno panel mill and facilities in Chile, Argentina and Brazil. The biggest challenges faced by the Program in Teno mill are to increase the availability of the MDP line and improve the quality of the melamine lines, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. The presentation was headed by Cristián Valenzuela, Panel business Operations Manager in Chile; Rodrigo Arriagada, Teno Mill Manager; and Milton Hernández, Director of the Operational Excellence program for the Panel business, all of whom stressed the importance of team leadership to generate continuous improvement and reach satisfying results for ARAUCO in terms of safety, the environment and the business. Milton Hernández positively valued this initiative, explaining that, through the program, Teno Panel Mill employees will contribute to increase the performance of the mill sharing ideas from their own work experience with the production processes. “Operators will attend training sessions during February to provide the necessary skills in order to apply this work method. We want to follow the example of other company facilities and establish Operational Excellence at Teno, making continuous improvement a clear demonstration of the effort made by multi-disciplinary teams who are working for the Panel business area’s leading position at the global level”, he said.
