Montreal-based AbitibiBowater Inc., the leading world producer of newsprint and specialty printing papers, said it will delay filing its quarterly financial statements while it competes amendments to the terms of its key credit facilities. Changes to lending agreements for the Bowater Inc. subsidiary will have a significant impact on the statements, the company said. Abitibi-Bowater is a holding company with the former Abitibi Consolidated and Bowater businesses operating as subsidiaries.
