First secretary of Transcarpathian regional committee of Ukrainian socialist party (SPU) Alexey Pristaya was appointed vice-chairman of state forestry committee of Ukraine. In his new position he will supervise operating questions, SPU regional committee spokesman Alexander Korobko said. According to him, Pristaya, who is also regional committee deputy, is sure that his appointment to senior position in state forestry committee will inure Transcarpathia. “For the period of independency there was in the committee at similar positions no representative not only from Transcarpathia but also from Carpathian region as a whole, taking into account that there is in the region the largest forest fund in the country. This appointment will only help me as a deputy to protect Carpathian forests and to contribute to development of forest industry in the region”, spokesman cited Alexey Pristaya.
