Angela Tyczkowski named chief compliance officer for Appleton

Angela Tyczkowski, vice president, secretary and general counsel for Appleton, has been named chief compliance officer for Appleton and will be primarily responsible for overseeing the company's ethical, legal and regulatory compliance matters including the company's corporate environmental, health and safety practices.
In her capacity as chief compliance officer, Tyczkowski will also oversee the company's internal audit function and its responsibility for the oversight of the testing of internal control over financial reporting for Appleton. Tyczkowski and the internal audit staff will report directly to Mark Richards, Appleton's chief executive officer, and to the audit committee of the company's board of directors to create three levels of review of the internal audit function. She will retain her responsibilities as vice president, secretary and general counsel for Appleton.

"Managing the issues through a dedicated and experienced resource such as Angela will maximize the effectiveness of our compliance efforts."
As chief compliance officer, Tyczkowski will lead efforts to ensure appropriate development, interpretation, implementation and measurement of the company's ethical, legal, environmental, health and safety compliance strategies, policies and programs. Her responsibilities also include continuing employee training and education about their legal and ethical obligations under applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
She will also continue to lead the law department in supporting Appleton's strategy, operations and finance by representing, assisting and advising the company in legal matters as well as managing independent counsel who represent the company.
Tyczkowski joined Appleton in June 1996 as legal counsel. Since then she has served as senior legal counsel, assistant general counsel and general counsel. Tyczkowski has been serving as the company's general counsel since October 2004 and as the company's vice president and secretary since January 2006. Prior to joining the company she was in private practice with Godfrey & Kahn. Tyczkowski earned a law degree and a bachelor's degree in German language, criminology and law studies from Marquette University.
