The timber industry has welcomed the approval of Western Australia's first biomass plant at Manjimup in the state's south-west, as ABC Online informed Lesprom Network. Tish Campbell, from Timber Communities Australia, says the plant will use almost 400 thousand tonnes of blue gum and pine plantation waste each year, to produce electricity. She says that's by-product that would normally be wasted.
