Aug 27, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. A new structure uniting financial and intellectual resources of the country's lathe-producing enterprises has been established in Byelorussia. Belstankoinstrument was established by the governmental order to operate until 2014, Byelorussian Ministry of industry spokesperson told Lesprom.ru. According to the ministry, Belstankoinstrument will design new types of lathes and improve the sales organization on the interior and exterior markets, which will allow to 'overcome the consequences of the world's crisis in the lathe industry, that has already had an impact on Byelorussia'. The group will unite 21 lathe industry enterprises, including the country's largest Gomelsky, Minsky MZOR, Minsky automatic lines plant, Orshansky 'Krasni Boirets' lathe plant and others. Belorgstankinprom will coordinate the work of Belstankoinstrument. Metal-cutting lathes production declined 5.7% to 2963 units within 7 months in 2004 compared with the prior period in 2003, timber-processing lathes – down 5.3% to 427 units.
