5. CIS countries' timber sectors have common problems. And if we manage to make the council systematic and adjust it to the practical solution of the problems, it will become a useful and decisive intergovernmental institution, head of Rosselkhoz Valeri Roshupkin said during the 3rd session of the CIS Intergovernmental council on timber sector, spokesperson for the Ministry of natural resources of Russia said.

And if we manage to make the council systematic and adjust it to the practical solution of the problems, it will become a useful and decisive intergovernmental institution, head of Rosselkhoz Valeri Roshupkin said during the 3rd session of the CIS Intergovernmental council on timber sector, spokesperson for the Ministry of natural resources of Russia said.
The session of the council was attended by the delegations from Russia, Byelorussia, Kazakhstan, Moldova and the CIS executive committee.
The participants signed a number of agreements on cooperation in reforestation and forest planting in accordance with the Kyoto protocol. The participants also agreed to develop common programs of economic and innovation development of the sector, to provide the exchange of scientific and technical information, to prepare and promote qualified staff.
The council distributed the sectors on cooperation among the countries: Russia will be responsible for the economic and innovation projects, Moldova – for the steady forest management and usage, Belarus Republic – for the forest science and staff training. Working groups have been set for each of the trends.
The Intergovernmental council on timber sector was established in 1998 by the common decision of the CIS countries. 8 CIS countries are members of the council. The council is chaired by Boris Bolshakov, deputy-director of the Federal agency on timber sector.
