Through the halfway point of the year, Canadian lumber production totaled 9.2 billion board feet, a 26% decline from a year earlier, Random Lengths reported with a reference to Statistics Canada. At 4.7 billion board feet, British Columbia accounted for 51% of the country's output, although the Central Interior declined 43% year-to-date. The Northern Interior, at 2.2 billion board feet, was down 16% from 2008; the only smaller decline was Alberta at 10%.
